This well preserved example of the famous Trans Am was in near perfect condition. After the initial consultation, while listening and agreeing to his concerns we decided on an era correct audio system. This design although not what we think of when we say car audio today is era correct. Era correct means that the upgrades done to a vehicle are correct for the time frame of the year the car was built.
Working with Vinny we decided on the Retro-Radio modern classic radio. This classic looking radio fit into the dash with zero modifications while giving the user all the features of a modern receiver like a digital FM tuner, HD radio, Bluetooth Audio, SXM, (2) USB connections, and 4-channel pre outs. Keeping with the era correct design a pair of Rockford Fosgate Punch 6X9’s hidden under the OEM rear deck grille paired with a 2-channel amplifier provided the “sound” we were after.
That’s right all of the music coming from the rear, exactly the way it would have been in the early 80’s.
